DENISE Welch has jumped to the defence of the Duchess of Sussex today, explaining the likes of Nigel Farage and Piers Morgan need to "back off" in their criticism of Meghan Markle.
Appearing on today's Loose Women panel, 61-year-old Denise voiced her views during a discussion about Farage's "royal rant" earlier this week.
Farage targeted both the Queen Mother as well as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, during a speech at Sydney’s Conservative Political Action Conference.
“Here was Harry, here he was this young, brave, boisterous, all male, getting into trouble, turning up at stag parties inappropriately dressed, drinking too much and causing all sorts of mayhem," said Farage.
“And then, a brave British officer who did his bit in Afghanistan. He was the most popular royal of a younger generation that we’ve seen for 100 years.
“And then he met Meghan Markle, and it’s fallen off a cliff."
Farage also slammed the Queen Mother and described her as an “overweight, chain-smoking gin drinker”.
During a panel discussion over whether it's "OK to mock the royals", Denise spoke out about the criticism of the Duchess of Sussex, who has recently welcomed her first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
"I think that this girl has gone into a situation which is very, very difficult, as is any new marriage but especially a family where everything is so controlled," said Denise.
"And as well as being a new princess she has just had a baby, so she is going to be a woman going through all these hormonal changes.
"And I think people should just back off the girl because it's really annoying me when people like Nigel Farage and Piers Morgan particularly, is being so mean and nasty because she didn't go back to a pub to meet him, so that's like a personal attack."
It's no secret that Piers Morgan isn't Meghan's biggest fan, with the Good Morning Britain presenter having previously labelled the 38-year-old a "social climber".
More recently, Piers also accused the Duchess of caring more about promoting "brand Meghan" than being a Royal.
"She constantly bleats about privacy but also wants to edit magazines to promote herself and tell us how to lead our lives," he said.
He also compared the new mum to a Kardashian following the royal's £2.4m taxpayer-funded refurb on Frogmore Cottage.
Speaking to , 54-year-old Piers said: "Maybe I'm wrong about her.
"Maybe we'll be back here in 20 years and she's turned out to be a fantastic member of the royal family, but there are a lot of worrying signs.
"Not least doing up their house, £2.5m cost to taxpayers.
"That's the behaviour of a Kardashian, not a member of the Royal family. They've got to be careful."
