Meghan Markle’s best friend Jessica Mulroney opens up about ‘debilitating’ panic attacks which she calls ‘the terrors’

MEGHAN Markle’s best friend Jessica Mulroney has opened up about her painful experience of panic attacks and anxiety.

The 39-year-old designer, who is the Duchess’s right-hand woman and unofficial fashion advisor, took to Instagram to shine a light on mental health by telling her followers about the attacks she has suffered with for years.

In a candid Instagram post, she wrote: “Panic attacks are a nightmare. The terrors, I used to call them.

Impossible to explain to people how very dishabilitating (debilitating) they are.

“But know this: they aren’t eternal. You can change your responses over time to stop the meta-panic, the panic ABOUT the panic.

“Acceptance is resistance.”

Along with the written picture post, the Canadian star used the caption to praise the charity Shoe Box Project for helping other women who are harbouring similar pain.

She wrote: “The reality of living with panic attacks can slowly change. Panic breeds panic. Mind over matter and never be ashamed. Thank you .

“So many suffer yet we still live in a world where this is not shared enough. This why the  means so much to me.

“Living with mental illness is not a choice and can lead to debilitating circumstances. Please follow our charity to understand the struggles some of these women face everyday in shelters.”

The post received almost 10,000 likes and went on to trigger hundreds of emotional responses from fellow sufferers.

One user @styleofkathleen wrote: “Thank you for this - I practice everyday my response. Sometimes when I try to explain my extreme anxiety, it’s really hard. Thank you also for being a voice and speaking out.”

While another @myfarelady68 wrote: “So true. Panic about the panic and fear of the fear are what do you in. And yes, impossible for anyone to understand if they've never experienced one so I've stopped talking about them or explaining them. Thanks for posting.”
