MANY new mums sadly feel the pressure to return to their pre-pregnancy bodies straight after giving birth – but Meghan Markle reportedly wants to change this.

According to a royal source, the Duchess of Sussex, 38, who gave birth to Archie in May “wants to change the perception that you have to be skinny to be beautiful.”

The insider told how Meghan isn’t prepared to let anyone dictate how she looks following her pregnancy.

She is said to be spending her time doing “daily yoga and meditation in her equipped yoga studio at Frogmore.”

The source added: “What she loves most about the practice is that it helps her switch off and wind down.”

The publication said Meghan has “even taught Harry a few moves” in the Windsor studio.

Royal author Katie Nicholl said the Duchess has been taking it easy and settling into motherhood in a "gentle and holistic" manner.

"I hear that yoga is very much on her post-birth fitness regime - nothing too strenuous," she explained.

"Before she fell pregnant, you know, Meghan was very fit... but she has been taking it easy... the whole approach has been holistic, it has been gentle.

"Meghan hasn't been hitting the gym. She hasn't been in any hurry to get back in shape."

She has also reportedly been going for walks around Windsor Great Park with baby Archie.

When can you start exercising after giving birth?

  • According to the NHS, if you had a straightforward birth, you can start gentle exercise as soon as you feel up to it.
  • They recommend waiting until your six-week postnatal check before you start high-impact exercise such as running or aerobics.
  • If you had a caesarean however, your recovery time will be longer so it's best to chat with your midwife or GP for advice.
  • The NHS recommends: Trying postnatal exercises to strengthen vital muscles; joining a postnatal exercise class; going for a walk and pushing the pram briskly and building activities into your day such as taking the stairs instead of the lift.

It's certainly refreshing to hear that Meghan is taking her time.

After all, there's often a huge amount of pressure for mums to "bounce back" after birth - particularly in the celeb world.

But with the average woman gaining up to 35 pounds during pregnancy - it certainly isn't easy.

While some women can lose this naturally - for example, both Kate Middleton and sister Pippa seemed to return to their pre-baby weight within weeks - everyone is different and it's good to know that Meg is being gentle on herself.

The duchess hinted she’s having a difficult time in the royal spotlight after telling Pharrell “they don’t make it easy.”
