Prince Andrew wishes the wrong daughter happy birthday in awkward Twitter gaffe
IT’S Princess Beatrice’s 31st birthday today and in an awkward Twitter slip-up her dad, the Duke of York, appears to have mistaken her for her younger sister.
Prince Andrew, 59, did a tribute photo post to his eldest daughter, but instead used four images of Princess Eugenie, 29.
One of the birthday photos was even of Princess Eugenie on her wedding day last October.
The mistake was quickly spotted on HRH’s official Twitter account and was removed and replaced by four heartfelt shots of the correct daughter.
However, the error didn’t go undetected by royal fans, and some screenshotted the wrong photos before they were deleted.
One uploaded the unfortunate tweet and wrote the caption: “Emmm this is a wee bit awkward?!?!”
Another joked: “I never know who is Eugenie and who is Beatrice – thank god I’m not alone and their dad have the same problem.”
Both Prince Andrew and mum Sarah Ferguson, 59, did sweet tributes on Instagram for their first born.
Fergie shared snaps from the York family album, and referred to her as “dearest Beatrice”.
The Duke of York has been contacted for comment.
Princess Beatrice was born at the Portland Hospital in London in 1988, where Meghan Markle gave birth to Archie.
She was fifth in line to the throne when she was born, but has now slipped to ninth thanks to the royal kids born to Prince William and Prince Harry.
She got a BA in history from Goldsmiths and is currently employed as the Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at Afiniti.
The royal has been going out with the Italian businessman Edoardo Mapelli since they met at the nuptials of Beatrice’s younger sister Princess Eugenie last year.
According to the , friends say the relationship has become “increasingly serious”.
