THE Queen has made an “unusual effort” in welcoming Meghan Markle into the royal family as she doesn’t want her to feel alienated like Princess Diana did, claims an expert.
Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe said that the Duchess of Sussex, 38, has struck up a very close bond with Her Majesty, 93.
Speaking to Fabulous Digital, Duncan said: “Meghan seems to have forged a particularly close relationship with the Queen if you compare that to when other people have married into the royal family.
“The Queen last year in the first few months of Meghan’s entry into the royal family, made a particular and slightly unusual effort to welcome her in.
“Unusual in the context of the trip on the royal train to do a royal engagement. I’m 99 per cent sure she’s never afforded that offer to Kate.”
Last June, the Duchess of Sussex joined the Queen on a visit to Cheshire after they travelled overnight by Royal Train together, and it is thought even Prince Harry and Kate Middleton have not had a ride on board.
Duncan also said that there have also been several times when the Queen has "obviously requested" that Meghan join her to an engagement or be seen in public with her.
He added this decision was probably deliberate on the Queen’s part in order to “signal the fact that she was welcoming her into the royal family”.
Duncan explained: “Possibly because Meghan very much burst onto the scene in a way Kate obviously didn’t.
“Everyone got to know Kate and the family long before they got engaged.
“Also possibly because of the lessons of the past where Princess Diana pretty much felt like an outsider in the royal family.”

Diana's private secretary from 1988 to 1996, Patrick Jepson, told Yahoo's The Royal Box how Princess Diana had felt alienated from the royal family, particularly following her divorce.
He said: “Both from her own childhood and from her experience of marriage, she felt that she was an outsider, that she had been excluded.”
He said that Princess Diana was able to channel this feeling of exclusion into helping other people who felt the same.
One of the late princess’s most poignant moments came when she shook the hand of a man who had Aids - which at the time publically challenged the notion that HIV/Aids was passed from person to person by touch.
