Meghan Markle’s Vogue issue slammed as ‘virtue-signalling’ by writer who was banned from taking photos of the duchess at Wimbledon
THE writer who was told off for taking photos of Meghan Markle at Wimbledon has slammed the royal’s “woke” Vogue magazine as “virtue-signalling”.
Sally Jones appeared on Good Morning Britain today to debate whether the Duchess of Sussex, 37, is receiving “unfair treatment” from critics.

Praising Meghan Markle and her work on the September issue was publicist Nick Ede, who has worked with Meghan in the past on a charity ball.
Speaking on the breakfast show, he said: “Doing something like this in Vogue is absolutely fantastic. There are so many people who will pick this magazine up and see somebody who is actually trying to make change.”
However Sally cut in and said: “The problem is when their public behaviour is deeply at odds with what they are saying.
“Taking private jets and going off to extraordinarily expensive baby showers. It’s that woke, achingly hip and cool tone of Vogue, it’s that ‘aren’t I special’, it’s the virtue signalling.”

GMB host Adil Ray defended Meghan and referred to the “disgusting” comments made in a column he said suggested that Meghan “wasn’t British enough”.
He said: “She couldn’t be more British. Just because you don’t like what she’s doing, to then call her out to say she’s not British enough, you are not good enough is disgusting.”
Former sports presenter Sally, 64, replied: “That’s quite wrong. She’s potentially the most wonderful princess, she’s got an awful lot of good qualities.
“The problem is she is not being well advised or she’s not listening to the advice.
“I think she does the sort of things that get up people’s nose. They think, here’s a woman who is a bit up herself.”

Adil pointed out the incredible charity work Meghan has done helping victims of the Grenfell Tower tragedy and with her charity work.
Sarah replied: “But she’s extraordinarily hypocritical in some of her stances.”
Earlier on Sarah said: “She is a wonderful bright sparky person, but she’s let her altruism and her awareness of her public position run away with her and she still sees herself as a Hollywood celeb but she’s a royal and there’s a big difference."
Host Ranvir Singh said: “The weird thing that we seem to be suggesting is that you have to erase your personality?”
Sarah replied: “We don’t want to be preached at.”

Nick gave his thoughts on the debate and said: “I think we as a nation are being quite xenophobic as she’s American.
“One of the biggest problem is when Meghan was a star of Suits, she could use her social media to reply. If there were trolls on there she could chat to them.
“She’s exactly what you see. She’s extremely altruistic, she’s very articulate and she’s very interested.
“She now doesn’t have a right of reply so we are bullying her.”
Meghan’s Vogue issue, out tomorrow, is themed on Forces for Change and includes numerous women who inspire her, along with promoting sustainable fashion brands.
It also includes a beauty section, which features the power of breathing and meditation, and features a quote about living life like a mermaid.

Sally recently hit headlines after sitting in the same row as Meghan at Wimbledon as they watched Serena play on Court One and being told by a security officer to not take photos of the royal.
She said she had been taking pictures of Serena and had not realised the duchess was nearby.
Sally commented: “I think this royal protection officer was quite embarrassed. He appeared a bit mystified as to why he was being asked to make such a request.
“I told him it was bonkers and that, even if I had been trying to snap the duchess, I’d have got a blurry picture of her right ear.
“Apart from anything else, there were hundreds of people clicking away.
“I said to him ‘Have you thought about having a word with any of the television cameras?’ He looked a little uncomfortable.”
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan accused Harry and Meghan of hypocrisy.
He said: “If you go to Wimbledon... in the best seats in the house for nothing and you take your two bezzies... you’re public people.”
