Edith Bowman’s mum Eleanor recalls the terrifying moment her daughter had an epileptic fit at just 11 months old
EDITH Bowman's mum Eleanor has spoken openly about how her daughter had an epileptic fit at just 11 months old.
Appearing on , with Lisa Snowdon, Scottish radio DJ and presenter Edith and her mum Eleanor spoke about the terrifying moment a waitress had to give her the kiss of life.
Discussing the night with Edith and Lisa, Eleanor explained: "She was 11 months and she was sitting on my mum's knee and she just went all limp.
"My mum was going to be looking after her because we had a big function that night and I had just come up to see how she was and my dad said, 'that bairn's not right, that bairn's not right'.
"So he started to try and pat her back and I phoned the doctor, I couldn't get an answer, so I ran about 500 yards down the road to bang on this doctor's door.
"Meanwhile, she had come down the stairs on somebody's shoulder, and they wondered whether it was that and then one of the young waitresses had given her the kiss of life, but it was scary, scary."
Explaining that she had suffered with epilepsy until she was eight years old, Edith, now 45 revealed she can still vividly remember having to go for brain scans - which often made her sick.
She added: "So I was on medication every day and then I got weaned off it, was I eight when I had my last fit? Eight or nine.
"I remember going for the brain scans because you would go and get checked all the time and the smell of the glue would make me sick, I've got that real visual memory of that."
