What is the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and when is it?
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is considered to be the world's largest arts festival.
Dating back to 1947, the event as been called the "most famous celebration of the arts and entertainment in the world".
Audiences can enjoy theatre, comedy, dance, circus, cabaret, children's shows, physical theatre, musicals, opera, music, spoken word, exhibitions and events.
This year's festival will kick off on August 2, and will run for a whopping 24 days up until August 26.
Last year, the festival spanned 25 days and featured more than 55,000 performances of 3,548 different shows in 317 venues.
How can I get tickets?
Getting tickets for the festival is hassle-free.
The organisation's website offers a quick-buy experience. Should you be tech-savvy, the festival has its own app from which you can buy your tickets.
But fear not traditional souls - you may still call and buy your tickets over the phone or in person if that's what you prefer.
If buying the tickets via the website is something that tickles your fancy, you may browse the listings .
However, if you're an Edinburgh resident, you have the chance to bag Fringe tickets for just a fiver.
Assembly are giving people living in the city the chance to secure entry to dozens upon dozens of their top shows for discounted prices, reported .
The discounted tickets are only available at their box office on George Square for performances from 31 July to 4 August.
All you need to do is take along some photographic ID and proof of address.
Anyone whose postcode starts with EH qualifies, and each customer can get two tickets per performance using the discount.
