VINE NOT HAVING IT

Meghan Markle defended by Jeremy Vine over Wimbledon criticism and ‘holding baby Archie wrong’

MEGHAN Markle has been defended by Jeremy Vine for the “horrible” criticism she has received in the past fortnight.

The TV star called out those slamming the Duchess of Sussex, 37, for her Wimbledon visit last week and the way in which she held baby Archie at a polo match on Wednesday.

Speaking on his Channel 5 show Jeremy Vine this morning, the presenter, 54, began a discussion on whether the new royal mum was being bullied on social media.

“She was labelled a diva after her trip to Wimbledon last Thursday when fellow spectators were apparently banned from taking photos of her,” Jeremy told the camera.

He was referencing accusations of her “silly control freakery” while appearing in a “private capacity” to watch friend Serena Williams play.

“But whatever you think of that, some of the online abuse has been awful,” the host continued.

“After being pictured with baby Archie at a charity event this week people tweeted that it looked like she ‘didn’t have a maternal bone in her body’.”

Jeremy then read out other tweets criticising Meghan for the way in which she was holding her two-month-old son.

“Horrible. Horrible. She’s a human being,” he said.

“She’s a human being in a difficult role who has moved from being a TV star to be not just a royal but a mother as well. All very quickly.

The TV presenter said “she’s a human being” and there’s “no excuse for bullying her”

“The TV star and royal thing are different roles, she may be getting them confused.

“A royal needs a common touch. An actress doesn’t.

“If she’s got it wrong, there’s no excuse for bullying her.”

Earlier this week, Meghan was cruelly “mum-shamed” on social media for looking like she about to drop Archie at the King Power Royal Charity Polo Day at Billingbear Polo Club in Surrey.

She was pictured joining Kate Middleton, 37, along with her three kids, Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, and one-year-old Prince Louis to watch Prince William and Prince Harry compete.

But Instagram users rushed to criticise her parenting skills.

One wrote “Meghan looks like she’s about to drop him”, while another added, “she is also not able to hold the baby”.

And a third commented: “You can tell she doesn’t even take care of her own kid. What kind of mother holds their baby like that.”
