SHE'S famous for her sophisticated style and love of the high street - but Kate Middleton is reportedly undergoing an "edgy" makeover in a bid to appear "young and more modern".

According to magazine, the Duchess of Cambridge has been making an effort to overhaul her wardrobe in recent months.

A source told the publication: "Kate felt like she was in a bit of a style rut and thought she needed a little edge.

"She's consciously worked on getting her look to be a bit younger and more modern, and it's worked! She looks amazing and is getting lots of compliments about it."

Over the weekend, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a daring clashing pink and red ensemble for her nephew Archie's christening.

Channelling her inner Blair Waldorf, Kate teamed a statement red satin headband with a pink pussybow dress by Stella McCartney for the occasion.

What's more, the Duchess stepped out in a stunning pleated white dress by her favourite fashion house Alexander McQueen for her Wimbledon appearance last week.

Earlier this year, the mum-of-three wasn't afraid to break style rules when she visited the Henry Fawcett Children's Centre in London wearing her purple silk Gucci blouse backwards.

But Kate's sleek new style isn't just down to her - the magazine reports that the Duchess has enlisted the help of her assistant Natasha Archer to revamp her style.

The Duchess' stylist has reportedly returned from maternity leave and is helping the mum-of-three with her "modern" new look.
