New mums praise ‘godsend’ hot and cold breastfeeding pads which relieve pain and encourage milk flow
ALTHOUGH we're forever being told that it's the most natural thing in the world, breastfeeding can be a very challenging (and painful) experience for many new mums.
However, parents are now singing the praises of a set of temperature-changing breast pads which promise to relieve pain AND help milk let down.
- Lansinoh Therapearl 3-in-1 Breast Therapy, £9.95 from Amazon -
Lansinoh's Therapearl pads cost just shy of £10 on Amazon and can be used either hot or cold to soothe sore breasts.
Mums need only microwave the circular pads for 15 seconds or freeze for two hours before placing them in their bra for instant relief.
According to the product description, using the breast therapy pads while hot "helps relieve engorgement, plugged ducts and mastitis" which are all common side effects of breastfeeding.
Alternatively, the warmed pads encourage milk let down and can be worn with any breastpump.
The genius design also comes with removable covers for added comfort and are latex-free.
Unsurprisingly, the temperature-changing pads have racked up some seriously glowing reviews - with mums labelling them a "total godsend".
One impressed Amazon customer wrote: "As a newbie mum, and prior to giving birth I did the typical thing most newbies do, look up what junk needs to be bought for when the baby is born. These were one of those purchases which I'm over the moon I bought."
The mum went on to rave about how the heated pads "provide a good 30 mins of restbite" for every use and "break down the hard lumps that can accumulate if you're having problem expressing the milk."
Similarly, another raved: "Fantastic product, I don't know where I would be without these! Fantastic pain relief when milk first comes in and continued to use these if I miss the chance to express and feel too full."
Describing how they work well with her breastpump, the mum said "they are brilliant when expressing" and "make it much more comfortable and a lot quicker to express than without."
Meanwhile, another claimed the pads helped speed up her breastpumping sessions.
The mum wrote: "It has helped me to increase the volume I express at a sitting. I am so pleased and think it was money well spent."
