Mrs Hinch fan uses £2 cleaning wipes to transform her discoloured light fitting in minutes… and the before and after photos speak for themselves

INTRICATE glass light fittings might look the part, but they can be a nightmare to clean.

But one Mrs Hinch fan has taken to social media to show off her handy tip, after managing to spruce up her grubby shade with just a few cleaning wipes.

Posting on the page, one woman asked for help, explaining her light fitting had turned yellow.

"I love my light fitting. But... After a few years it looks yellow," she wrote.

"How can I clean it without taking it down? Was a bugger to fit!"

The delicate glass light fitting appears to feature hundreds of tiny beads on a silver base - and other users agreed it looked a nightmare to clean.

One was concerned the woman would get the wiring wet, with the user responding: "I won't get the bulbs wet or wire, they are behind all the beads.

"It's silver base - most of it - and [the] beads I want to get back to clear and silver."

Later on in the thread, the woman explained she had ended up using Flash wipes and a cloth, revealing she couldn't believe how much of a difference they had made to the colour.

"Took me 40 mins. Looking much nicer now though!

"But wow. What a difference. Cannot believe hit dirty it was!"

The woman also shared an impressive before-and-after, with the yellow-tinged light fitting on one side and the sparkly bright white version on the other.

You can snap up Flash wipes for under £2 from supermarkets, home stores or on Amazon.

When cleaning a light fitting, always be sure not to get the wiring, socket or metal parts wet.
