Prince Harry invites Tiggy Legge Bourke to Archie’s intimate christening, in touching tribute to former childhood nanny

WHILE Meghan Markle and Prince Harry kept the christening of Archie Harrison closely under wraps, it has now been revealed that Harry's childhood nanny was invited to the intimate ceremony.

In a touching tribute, Tiggy Legge Bourke - who is still very close to the 34-year-old royal - was among the select number of guests invited to the special occasion at Windsor Castle today.

Tiggy, 54, is so close to Prince Harry, that it's believed he introduced Meghan to her when the couple started dating, with the former nanny also invited to their wedding in May last year.

The former nursery school teacher - who once called Harry and brother William "my babies" - joined The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who drove themselves to Windsor Castle, for the ceremony.

While Prince Harry is godfather to Tiggy’s son, Fred, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have decided not to disclose the names of the godparents.

The couple kept the christening private, with only 25 guests thought to have been invited.

Two-month-old Archie was christened by The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, while wearing the handmade replica of the royal christening robe.

Water from the River Jordan was used in the Lily Font, in accordance with royal tradition.

Prince Harry and Meghan, 37, released two photographs to mark the day, with one an arty black-and-white shot, inkeeping with the couple's style.

The other shows Archie's extended family, including Prince Harry's aunts - Princess Diana's sisters - Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale.

Tiggy has remained close to the boys since Princess Diana died, when Prince Harry was 12.

She was at Balmoral and was the one he and brother Wills turned to for comfort.

A source previously said: “She’s a very significant person in Harry’s life, almost like a mother-figure, as she looked after Harry when Princess Diana died."

Prince Harry is thought to have taken his then-fiancee Meghan meet her after the couple visited Cardiff in January.

His ex-nanny lives 30 miles away on the sprawling Glanusk Estate, which is owned by her wealthy family.

It's thought she drove up for the ceremony this afternoon, which saw hordes of royal fans line the street.

While Prince William opted to drive himself and Kate, grandparents Prince Charles and Camilla arrived by helicopter.

Meghan's mum, Doria Ragland, was also present.
