Shopper reveals clever tip for unlocking a supermarket trolley without a pound coin or token – all you need is two 20ps
THERE'S nothing more annoying than arriving at the supermarket without a pound coin or token.
But one shopper has revealed a handy tip on how to unlock a shopping trolley with just two 20ps instead.
Taking to social media, the shopper explained using the two coins together works just as well as a one pound.
Writing on the , they explained: "If you don't have a pound coin or a trolley coin put 2 20s together & boom it will work."
Alongside the post, the shopper also shared an image of the two 20p coins fitting neatly into the trolley.
Other shoppers were impressed, with several revealing they would be giving it a go - however, there does seem to be a slight catch, with some shoppers reporting the coins have a habit of getting stuck.
Several explained they had tried out the trick, only to be left shortchanged when the coins became jammed.
One wrote: "I was embarrassed in Aldi as I did this they got stuck and jammed and a manager had to come out to fix it, very very embarrassing "
While another said: "Tried this and it works but I couldn't get my 20ps back [it] jammed the trolley."
The post prompted users to share other items they use to unlock trolleys.
One wrote: "The key off corned beef tins work, used them for months now."
Others suggested simply buying a token for 50p and keeping it on a key ring while a great number of shoppers explained they use their house key.
Many were unimpressed with this method, however, with one commenting: "So many people potentially getting their house key stuck, madness."
Unless desperate, it certainly seems like it might be easier to stick to the pound coin...
