Ever since the girls graced the villa last month, we've been amazed by their super high-leg swimwear.

The styles have certainly risen in popularity, with high-cut, belted bikinis as well as high-leg swimsuits flooding the high-street.

And with so much leg and bikini line on show, one waxing expert has revealed that the "Love Island effect" has now spread to the hair removal sector, too.

Speaking to Fabulous Digital, owner of Louise explained: "Ever since the launch of this year's Love Island, requests for high-leg bikini waxing has soared. We're dubbing it The Love High-land.

"With the latest swimwear trends getting higher and skimpier, the desire to have most of the bikini line hair removed is a popular choice for women heading to the beach.

"Even ladies that aren’t a fan of a higher leg line designs still opt for a high leg bikini wax, so everything is all neat and tidy with no risk of pubic hair peeping out the sides."

Louise also revealed that the Love Island trend is always brought up during the treatment.

"Love Island is definitely a talking point in the treatment room and it's certainly influenced bookings," she said.

"After looking at the stats, requests for these intimate waxes have increased by 60 per cent in the last 12 months.

"High-cut bikini styles are definitely playing a part in the increase in demand - gone are the low rise underwear and swimwear trends that were all the rage a few years ago."

Even during the girls' bunny challenge earlier in the series, the matching black leotards featured high-leg cuts.

But with each Love Island series lasting around eight weeks, and most waxed hair starting to grow back after around three weeks, fans have often wondered whether the girls are able to visit a salon mid-series.

Last year, it was revealed that the girls were given hair and beauty treatments within the villa, after viewers were perplexed over Dani Dyer's darker hair do towards the end of the show.

At the time, a Love Island spokesperson confirmed to : "All the girls had hair and beauty treatments in the villa in the last few days."

But, it might not be the case with waxing.

Series three contestant Montana Brown told that during her time on the show, the ladies resorted to shaving as producers wouldn't allow them to have professional waxes.

Olivia Buckland - who starred in series two and went on to marry fellow contestant Alex Bowen - backed this up, revealing on This Morning: "You can request a waxing kit, there's a secret window where you get food and drinks from.

"So they could be getting the waxing kit from that, but one of the other girls will have to do their bikini lines for them."

The dos and don'ts of preparing for a wax

  • Don't book a wax when you're due on your period - your skin is the most sensitive just before and during menstruation, making waxing even more painful.
  • Do book an allergy patch test if it's your first wax, first wax at a new salon or it's been a while since you've had one.
  • Do let your hair grow before a wax - if it's too short it won't grip. Two to three weeks of regrowth is ideal.
  • Don't drink alcohol, caffeine or exercise beforehand - this can increase blood circulation and make the experience more painful.
  • Do try taking paracetamol or ibuprofen beforehand to reduce the pain.
  • Do wear loose and comfortable underwear and clothing - this will avoid irritation post-wax.

According to Louise, waxing intimate areas yourself could be tricky, but it is possible with the high-leg Love High-land.

"Creating the high-leg bikini line can be relatively achievable for those familiar with home waxing," she explained.

"But to reach the labia and round to the perianal area is a whole different matter! I suppose it's about how flexible you are and how brave you are.

"It's certainly possible, but will it be a professional finish? I doubt it."

With the waxing expert explaining most people notice a few hairs growing back after a couple of weeks, the girls could be reaching for the shop-bought wax strips already.
