Mums-to-be swear this ice cube tip is a must for coping with the heat while pregnant

AS much as we're looking forward to some lovely warm weather over the weekend, the upcoming heatwave certainly may prove challenging for all the mums-to-be out there.

Well if you find yourself struggling with the tropical temperatures this weekend, then you might want to give this genius and super affordable ice cube hack a go.

Confessing their heatwave tips and tricks to , mums-to-be have revealed that putting ice in front of a fan is the fastest and most effective way of filling the room with cool air.

And of course, popping a couple of ice cubes is a surefire way to cool down too.

Sarah Ogden recalled: "I had my son in September 2006, that August was so warm. The best thing I did was freeze a bottle of water - just a two-litre empty pop bottle - then put it in front of a fan.

"It was nice, freezing cold air being blown right at me, it was amazing."

Fellow mum Gayle Waddel, who was heavily pregnant in summer, added: "My eldest was a July baby so I can completely emphasise.

"My biggest tip is sleeping (or working!) with a fan with a bowl of ice in front of it to keep cool I just constantly ate ice cubes."

Also relying on ice during the warmer months, one mum found herself "constantly putting my wrist under cold water" and sucking on ice cubes to keep her temperature down.

She added: "It really helped, as did thin cotton clothing and sitting in the shade."

How to keep cool in the heatwave:

  • Although it might seem counter-intuitive , shuttng windows and closing blinds/curtains keeps the hot air out of your home
  • Make sure to stay hyrdrated and avoid excess alcohol
  • Have cool baths and showers to avoid overheating
  • Stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm, which is the hottest part of the day, if you're vulnerable to heat
