WANT to earn some extra cash without too much effort? You could earn thousands simply by logging into your Facebook account.
Mum-of-two Olivia White, 30, has revealed how she made £8,000 on the social media site by selling items she didn’t need from around her house.
The Melbourne-based mum said she's flogged hundreds of unused household items, clothes and even a car on the Facebook Marketplace.
She managed to make so much money that she has been able to book a family holiday to Disneyland with the earnings.
The thrifty mum told : “I just love giving things a second lease on life, you know I might not need it anymore, but someone else might.”
Olivia revealed how she firstly separated everything that she didn’t need from her home – which included the family’s old shed and even bits of wood.
She also went through all the kids’ old baby clothes and items, and revealed she managed to make £218 from their daughters’ cot and £54 from her baby bag.
The biggest item they sold was an old truck for £1,640, and the savvy mum advised that clothing and appliances are the best products to sell as they can often pick up close to retail value.
She also said kids’ items are popular as many parents don’t want to fork out for new products, and that people can even give household items away for free if it would normally cost to dispose of them.
The Aussie mum also gave some top tips for helping things to sell on Facebook.
She commented: “Take lots of photos, and ensure the item is in a well-lit area. Multiple photos will show the item from all angles and increase the likelihood of a sale.”
She also said: “[Use] correct and descriptive write-ups, answering any questions you can think of which you might be asked”.
Olivia posts to relevant and local Buy, Sell and Swap groups as she knows people are looking to buy similar items.
The mum said the service has changed her life and now is her “go-to” place for selling and buying.
Not only has she been able to afford a holiday to Disney, she’s also put thousands in the family’s savings and said Facebook has a “sense of community”.
