Meghan Markle and Archie are ‘doing baby yoga together’ for ‘holistic’ post-birth fitness regime, royal biographer claims

A ROYAL expert has revealed that the Duchess of Sussex is in no rush to "get back in shape" following the birth of her first child.

Meghan, 37, gave birth to Archie Harrison just last month and is said to be taking a "relaxed approach" to her post-baby body by taking up baby yoga and other gentle exercise.

Speaking to , royal author Katie Nicholl explained that the Duchess has been taking it easy and settling into motherhood in a "gentle and holistic" manner.

"I hear that yoga is very much on her post-birth fitness regime - nothing too strenuous," she explained.

"Before she fell pregnant, you know, Meghan was very fit... but she has been taking it easy... the whole approach has been holistic, it has been gentle.

"Meghan hasn't been hitting the gym. She hasn't been in any hurry to get back in shape."

According to Nicholl, while the Duchess is taking it easy, she has been keen to return to yoga as well as reportedly going for walks around Windsor Great Park with baby Archie.

"Apparently Doria took up postpartum yoga and baby yoga, and that's all Meghan has been doing," said Nicholl.

"And lots of proud walks around Windsor Great Park, so, gentle exercise, but no hard training, no weights. She's apparently not in any hurry to ping back into shape. She's enjoying this time. She's being gentle to herself."

When can you start exercising after giving birth?

  • According to the NHS, if you had a straightforward birth, you can start gentle exercise as soon as you feel up to it.
  • They recommend waiting until your six-week postnatal check before you start high-impact exercise such as running or aerobics.
  • If you had a caesarean however, your recovery time will be longer so it's best to chat with your midwife or GP for advice.
  • The NHS recommends: Trying postnatal exercises to strengthen vital muscles; joining a postnatal exercise class; going for a walk and pushing the pram briskly and building activities into your day such as taking the stairs instead of the lift.

It's certainly refreshing to hear that Meghan is taking her time.

After all, there's often a huge amount of pressure for mums to "bounce back" after birth - particularly in the celeb world.

But with the average woman gaining up to 35 pounds during pregnancy - it certainly isn't easy.

While some women can lose this naturally - for example, both Kate Middleton and sister Pippa seemed to return to their pre-baby weight within weeks - everyone is different and it's good to know that Meg is being gentle on herself.
