Parents, cover your ears – Baby Shark is being turned into an animated series

JUST when we thought we'd reached peak Baby Shark, it turns out the viral YouTube video is being turned into an animated series for Nickelodeon.

Yep, a SERIES - that's a lot of Baby Shark.

With over three billion views on YouTube, the catchy song started off as an innocent sing-along video on the .

But kids and babies can't get enough of the song and now, the internet sensation is being turned into a TV series.

Nickelodeon will team up with Pinkfong to develop the show, which is set to further explore Baby Shark's world.

"Baby Shark has captured the imagination of millions of fans around the world, so it's no surprise it's one of the top 10 most-viewed videos on YouTube ever," said Ramsey Naito, executive vice president of Nickelodeon Animation.

"At the heart of any popular piece of content is a terrific character, and we have a great opportunity to further explore the world of Baby Shark and follow this family through some great animated adventures on Nickelodeon."

Meanwhile, the president of Nickeloden Consumer Products, Pam Kaufman has also told CNN that "appetite for more content and products is strong around the world".

"Our outstanding creative teams are moving fast to get more Baby Shark product across multiple categories to retailers, and our content team is excited to develop a terrific original animated series that will bring this property to new heights and even more fans," she explained.

While a release date is yet to be confirmed, it certainly seems we'll be seeing a LOT more Baby Shark, pretty soon.
