Melania Trump channels Princess Diana in elegant white two-piece suit with navy detailing to meet The Queen
MELANIA Trump channelled Princess Diana on Monday, to meet The Queen at Buckingham Palace.
The First Lady changed into her third outfit in just 12 hours ahead of her private lunch with the royals and her husband -President Donald Trump, 72.
The former model, 49, was wearing a white skirt suit dress by Dolce & Gabbana when she arrived at The Queen’s main residence earlier today.
She paired the dress with a navy blue belt and heels, as well as a wide brimmed hat by Hervé Pierre – which also had a navy trim.
The milliner posted a sketch of his hat design on Instagram earlier today, explaining that he made it bespoke to match the D&G outfit – with a midnight blue silk crepe.
Melania matched with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall in white – but many noted that her look was straight out of Princess Diana’s wardrobe.
Prince Harry and William’s late mother wore white skirt suits, often with a hat or blue detailing, to several royal engagements during her marriage to Charles, who also dined with the US President.
Melania’s outfit went down a treat on social media, where fans tweeted: “Melania Trump’s outfit today is a lovely homage to Princess Diana, down to the tilt of the hat. Sweet.”
Others said: “Melania looking strikingly Diana-esque as she arrives as Buckingham Palace.”
Some also compared Melania to Audrey Hepburn as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady.
Impressed ladies tweeted: “Got to hand it to #melania. That outfit is amazing”, “WOW absolutely gorgeous” and “Melania looks absolutely fab”.
Another lady gushed: “Slightly obsessed with Melania Trump’s outfit today”.
Both Melania’s earlier outfits carried hidden messages – which paid tribute to Britain.
She wore a £3,500 Gucci dress printed with Big Ben, Tower Bridge and London buses as she left Washington yesterday.
And she donned a £650 Burberry blouse printed with medals, in tribute to D-Day veterans, as she landed at Stansted Airport this morning.
