Meghan Markle gave her son Archie the middle name Harrison ‘as a tribute to her favourite Beatle’, friends have claimed
The Duchess of Sussex is believed to have harboured a soft spot for late guitarist George
MEGHAN Markle gave her newborn son the middle name Harrison as a tribute to her favourite Beatle, friends have claimed.
Brit expat Edmund Fry, who taught the former actress etiquette and how to take tea with the Queen at his posh Los Angeles tea room, said the choice reflected her love of music.
Meghan, 37, and Prince Harry, 34, named their young royal Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, following his birth at a London hospital this week.
Edmund said: “My theory is she has a great fond feeling for George Harrison and that’s where that name came from more so than the American actor.
“She loved the music very much so, because she's a great fan of The Beatles.”
Fry feels that Meghan picked the name as the Beatles brought about a unity around the world especially between the US and the UK.
He added: “The Beatles had a huge effect on the relationships particularly between the younger people in America and Britain. Before them, was there a connection? Not really.
“Certainly not through music.
“I think what Harry has done by marrying Meghan, and it seems to be working exceptionally well, I'm sure you've seen the photos of the Queen.
“I've never seen the Queen smiling like the way she's been smiling for the last few days. It's absolutely magnificent. It's fantastic to see them so happy.”
Harrison, who passed in 2001, was instrumental in introducing meditation to his band mates when they visited India in 1967.
He was an advocate for the daily practice until his death.
Meghan's ex-instructor Light Watkins, from Los Angeles, revealed that she too enjoyed two sessions into her daily routine.
Edmund revealed that Meghan visited the tearoom with a group of friends last summer – shortly before her first meeting with the Queen.
She enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea of cucumber and roast beef finger sandwiches, scones with jam and cream - finished off with the café's home-made sticky toffee pudding.
He advised her how to sip her tea, place the cutlery in the correct position – and other etiquette rules such as what to do with the napkin.
It comes as we exclusively revealed how Meghan and Harry named Archie after army hero and the Duke's mentor who got him deployed in Afghanistan.
Royal fans also believe Archie is a ‘tribute to mum Meghan’ as it’s a near-anagram of her real moniker Rachel.
The Duchess' pals have similarly suggested he was named after her pet cat and a vintage US comic.
And another theory is that Archie was inspired by cousin Prince George, five, who told a dog walker in Berkshire earlier this year that his nickname is 'Archie'.
