Among the original line-up which have been axed are Prince William and Kate Middleton’s account, @KensingtonRoyal, the official Royal Family account, as well as Princess Eugenie’s personal account.

The move is to mark Mental Health Awareness Month in the US, a subject which Princes Harry and William, as well as Kate, champion as part of their Heads Together campaign.

The 16 accounts are all people and organisations which work in the field of mental health, and the parents-to-be confirmed they’re not going to re-follow any old accounts.

Writing on Instagram, a post from the Sussex Royal account said: “Each month we will honour this same concept and change the accounts we solely follow based on a different theme or cause.

The announcement was made in a post alongside a collage of photos which come from the new accounts the Sussex’s are following, to promote mental wellbeing.

It said: “To pay tribute to all of the incredible work people across the globe are doing in this space, we are hoping to shine a light on several Instagram accounts that promote mental well-being, mental fitness, body positivity, self-care, and the importance of human connection - to not just hear each other, but to listen.
