Woman whose Tinder match said her ASOS dress ‘doesn’t do her any favours’ gets sweet revenge as she becomes a model on the website
Thea Lauryn Chippendale, 20, matched with singleton George on Tinder who described her dress as 'awful' and told her to 'shop somewhere decent'
A WOMAN whose Tinder match criticised her "awful charity shop dress" has had the last laugh - after ASOS made her a model on its website.
Thea Lauryn Chippendale, 20, a student at Lincoln University, took to to share the bizarre exchange with her followers, posting a screenshot of their conversation.
Singleton George opens the conversation by saying: “Not gonna lie you’re a bit of a joke but that dress in the last photo is not doing any favours. Hope this helps.”
Clearly affronted Thea then responds simply saying “excuse me?” to which George replies “You heard!”
But quite rightly Thea doesn’t back down, writing back: “Why did you feel like you needed to comment on it?
“Is your head so far up your own a*** that you thought your opinion mattered?”
However, George fails to see the issue and replies: “Literally had to tell you that else I wouldn’t of slept. It’s awful you not reckon? Charity shop job!
“I tell you what… GROW UP! And shop somewhere decent! Thanks. Hope this helps.”
Alongside the screen shot of the messages, Thea shared a snap of herself in the mink lace midi dress from ASOS, worth £75 that George had been so offended by.
Captioning her tweet she wrote: “Men are trash.”
Her tweet has since gone viral amassing over 90,000 likes, receiving thousands of supportive comments from her followers.
One wrote: "’GROW UP’ he says to a woman who is clearly confident and self-assured. A thinly veiled attempt at compensating for his own issues with self-image and status. Sad.”
Another joked: “His ex had that dress and wore it when she cheated on him. It's the only explanation here. PS. You're f***ing stunning x”
A third added: “Well I think you look stunning and everyone knows validation off another female is worth 100x more than a Male.”
Others took the opportunity to share the “advice’ they had been offered by men over the dating app.
One woman replied: “Some guy matched with me once just to tell me he didn’t like my eyebrows.”
“A dude matched with me just to tell me my curly hair was obviously fake bc the curl pattern was inconsistent.... mans looked like stu from ice age” revealed another.
Now ASOS has also got behind Thea, by adding her image to the dress's listing on its website.
Yep. She's pretty much a model now. Take that, George.
Thea said: “If I’m honest, I think matching with him was an accident because I can’t actually remember swiping right for him.
“There wasn’t really much more after that, I told him to get a life and to stop dragging girls down because of their own insecurities!”
Commenting on her reaction to the message she said: “My first reaction was shock and I was quite upset.
“I wore the dress for a wedding.”
She added: “I was shocked about it going viral and I didn’t expect it at all, but I’m very appreciative of all the positive comments that everyone has been writing, it’s been so lovely.”
While George hasn’t contacted Thea again, she’s aware he knows his comments are online.
Thea said: “One of his friends tagged him in the post, so he definitely knows he’s gone viral.”
