Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal baby is likely to be gifted Queen’s brooch featuring 11 diamonds – does this hint it’s a girl?
Diamond expert Grant Mobley says the Botswana Flower brooch is the front-runner
MOST newborns can expect some knitted booties or a rattle when it comes to gifts from their relatives.
But most newborns don’t count the Queen as their great-grandmother, who is expected to bestow the latest royal addition with a VERY valuable gift.
The monarch is expected to give Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first born a brooch featuring 11 diamonds when it is born.
Diamond expert and gemologist Grant Mobley predicts that Her Majesty will opt for her prize Botswana Flower brooch when it comes to an heirloom for baby Sussex.
The elegant piece was presented to the Queen by the President of Botswana in 2007 and features no less than 11 diamonds set in yellow gold.
While it remains unclear whether the royal couple are expecting a boy or a girl, the Queen is not known to have gifted jewellery to the men of the family.
Explaining why the brooch is a “frontrunner” Mobley told : “Botswana has significant meaning to Meghan and Harry—after travelling to the country together in the early days of their relationship.
“Harry later chose a diamond from Botswana as the feature stone in Meghan’s engagement ring.”
This is not the only heirloom that the baby could inherit, as pregnant Meghan has previously revealed what she would like to pass on if she has a little girl.
The Duchess of Sussex bought a £4,800 Cartier Tank Française after learning Suits - the television programme she starred in - had been commissioned for a third season.
In 2015, Meghan told : "When I found out Suits had been picked up for our third season – which, at the time, felt like such a milestone – I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version [of the watch]."
She continued: "I had it engraved on the back, 'To M.M. From M.M.'
