Pregnant woman’s rant goes viral after stranger puts her coffee in the BIN, because ‘she’s not allowed’ to drink it

The mum-to-be is 36 weeks pregnant and confessed she's feeling very 'tired and grumpy'

A PREGNANT woman's rant has gone viral after a total stranger chucked her coffee in the bin, claiming she's "not allowed" to drink it.

The mum-to-be has hit the 36-week mark and, by her own admission, is feeling very "tired and grumpy" as well as "massive" and "uncomfortable".

Her morning coffee is a Godsend after the sleep-deprived nights, although the mum understands she should limit her caffeine intake.

As any mum knows, pregnancy comes with the challenge of not only growing a tiny human, you're sure to be met with an onslaught of unsolicited advice too.

, the woman explained she ordered a cold brew, "nothing crazy", in her local cafe when an older woman started lecturing her.

She added: "I am currently at my local chain coffee shop, sitting now, with my effing cup of coffee that had to be remade.

"Because some random grandmother decided that, as I'm pregnant, I shouldn't be allowed to have caffeine."

She takes cup from my hand and drops it, full, into the trash next to the counter

When she went to the counter to collect her order, the stranger immediately told her "you can't have that, you're pregnant".

After the pregnant woman reassured her "it's one cup, it's fine", she says the other lady started shouting, telling her "YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED".

At this point, she says the older woman "takes cup from my hand and drops it, full, into the trash next to the counter".

The mum-to-be told her: "You cannot be serious. It's fine. My doctor even says it's fine.

"(I looked at the barista, who is just standing there, mouth agape. She let's me know she'll make me another).

"Please leave me alone. I'm tired, and want my coffee. I get one cup a day, this is it. Please go away."

At this point, the mum says the woman launched into a bizarre rant.

She said: "NO YOU CAN'T HAVE IT YOU'RE PREGNANT IT WILL MAKE YOU HAVE THE BABY NOW YOU CAN'T DO IT I WON'T LET MY DAUGHTER DO IT EITHER BUT SHE DRINKS IT ANYWAY AND IF I CAN'T SAVE HER I'LL SAVE YOU INSTEAD.

The bizarre conversation left the mum-to-be wondering: "What? Save me?"

The pregnant woman, who admits she's not good as confrontation, says she felt panicked by the whole situation.

And she was horrified when the same woman tried to take away her second coffee cup, too.

She said: "So I yelled. For her to stop trying to come near me.

"I literally, loudly (and even now have a bit of a shake from doing it), shouted PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE. YOU'RE MAKING ME UNCOMFORTABLE AND I DON'T WANT YOU THIS CLOSE.

"She stopped, did this fish mouth gaping thing, went 'UGH FINE' and left.

"The barista gave me a drink coupon and apologized for the stress, but goodness. How can someone think that's OK?"

Is it safe to drink coffee while pregnant?

Yes it is, but you do need to limit your intake.

High levels of caffeine during pregnancy can result in babies having a low birth weight, which can increase the risk of health problems in later life.

The NHS also warns too much caffeine can cause a miscarriage.

Doctors advise mums-to-be have no more than 200mg today, which is about two cups of coffee, although you can exceed this amount from time to time - without too much risk to the baby's health.

People were horrified, commenting: "Wtf?" and "Thankfully I just peed or else I would have peed my pants from laughing so hard at this."

One mum sarcastically commented: "OMG I tried EVERYTHING to induce labour with my daughter.

"8 days late and here I was eating pineapple cores and walking for hours. If only I knew all I had to do was drink a cup of coffee..."

While one woman said: "A series of short films about the nonsense pregnant women have to go through would be AMAZING.

"In a Public Service Announcement style. One on belly touchers. One on unsolicited advice from friends.

";Another on the pressure to not let pregnancy affect work, but to also be the perfect doting mother who puts family first.

"One for the unwed pregnant mamas getting judged by people. One for unwanted birth horror stories.

"Another entire video of a pregnant mama listening to everyone she knows say 'SLEEP WHILE YOU CAN, YOU'LL NEED IT'.

"And of course, one based on this tale of Assaulting Grandma Hates Coffee.";

Others shared their own awkward pregnancy tales.

One mum-to-be said: "My aunt was literally rubbing my belly for a full two minutes today. She didn’t ask for permission. I was uncomfortable the entire time."

Yesterday we revealed a mum-of-four had begged people to stop asking women when their baby’s due – saying it’s ‘the most irritating thing about being pregnant’.
