ALL eyes may be on Harry and Megs at the moment, but it seems it’s actually Doria Ragland, Meghan Markle’s mum, who's boasting the real love story.
In a tweet yesterday, author Jasmine Guillory revealed that she has penned a royal romance novel inspired by the Duchess of Sussex’s mother – and it’s as epic as it sounds.
The writer –known for New York Times best sellers The Wedding Date and The Proposal – came up with the concept after seeing a pal’s tweet online which begged for a royal love story about the single mother of a Duchess.
Following reports last year that Doria would be joining the Queen at Sandringham estate for Christmas, royal fan and librarian Margaret H. Willison tweeted: “I now NEED a charming romance about the single mother of a new Duchess falling in love with an appropriately aged royal retainer while spending Christmas at Sandringham.”
Spotting the plea, the author stepped up and got writing the fictional novel, Royal Holiday, straight away.
The novel follows 50-something Vivian Forest, who is the mother of Maddie, a fashion stylist who has to travel across the pond to style a British Royal.
When Vivian joins her daughter’s trip for the ride, she soon finds herself swept off her feet by the Queen’s private secretary Malcolm Hudson.
Oh, yes.
The author admits she has spent years reading royal biographies, blogs and adoringly watching the royals, so she thought it would be the perfect idea for her latest endeavour.
The author tweeted: “I have a story for you today, Twitter. Remember this tweet?" before revealing the cover of the book.
The Royal Holiday will be released in the UK on October 1 and can be - we’re already holding dying to get our hands on it.
Sadly, there’s no evidence that any of it is true of Doria – but we can still dream, right?
