PREGNANT Meghan Markle is "jealous" of her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, according to her half-sister Samantha.
According to Samantha, Meghan has been using her designer wardrobe to remain "centre of attention" after constant comparisons between the royal wives' wardrobes.
In Quest Red's upcoming documentary Meghan and Harry: A Royal Baby Story, Samantha, who shares dad Thomas Markle with the Duchess of Sussex, hits out at her fashion choices.
The 54-year-old American says: "I believe that there is a jealous streak in Meg, she does like to be the centre of attention and I feel like that is what is going on now."
Juliet Angus, an American fashion and lifestyle blogger, shares her own critique of Meghan's decisions to wear expensive designer clothes.
She said: "Kate is so much better at mixing it up with the high street and she pulls out the big guns for the big events and wears her McQueen and her Dior. I feel she can do the balance."
Meghan, who is due to give birth to her first child with Prince Harry in the coming weeks, has been writing her own royal style book ever since she was welcomed into the royal family.
While her party outfits have been replaced with sophisticated and less revealing numbers, Meg has been carving out something far from Kate's own thrifty look.
So far she's avoided maternity clothes and instead favoured bespoke, designer outfits costing around an estimated half a million.
The 37-year-old has been dripping in designer clothes and jewellery when stepping out for royal engagements, even during her third trimester, and has been heavily criticised for her inaccessible maternity wardrobe.
One stylist believes that Meghan's conscious effort not to copy Kate's tried-and-tested royal wardrobe has even forced Prince William's wife to up her game.
Celebrity stylist, Lucas Armitage, told : "Meghan has cemented herself a place as the leading stylish member of the Royal family, and rumours are circulating she has forced Kate to up her style game.
"Whilst the public love Kate for her sometimes thrifty reusing of wardrobe staples and her love of mid-range brands it’s interesting Meghan shuns them all-together."
Celebrity journalist Ashley Pearson adds in the documentary of the difficulties Meghan faces: "People want her to dress like a princess, they want her to be glamorous, they want her to look better than they do, they want her to be special as Princess Diana.
"It’s a tricky line to navigate as a royal."
