Nikki Sinclair, from Scotland, said her son's skin condition was so severe it left him with open bleeding wounds

A MUM has raved about a £12.50 cream which completely cured her youngest son’s severe eczema.

Nikki Sinclair, 36, from Scotland, said her two-year-old Jake's skin condition was so severe it was causing him pain leaving him unable to sleep and with open bleeding wounds.

Struggling to stop her son from scratching resulting in painful sores and looking for relief, Nikki started visiting the doctors when he first showed signs of eczema at just a few months old.

Mum-of-two Nikki, who works as a teacher, said: “It was distressing to see him suffer. We went to see the doctors and were prescribed emollients and steroids.

“We have tried several different creams including Diprobase, Epaderm and Oilatum. They didn’t seem to work.”

The eczema started to affect her son day to day as he could not be left with his hands uncovered in case he were to scratch his body.

Although a frustration for Nikki, the daytime was not so much of a problem, it was throughout the night when the scratching would result in sleepless nights and blood stained sheets.

Nikki, who also has a six-year-old son called Rory, said: “He would wake up scratching his entire body, especially behind his knees, his face and the inside of his arms. It was difficult to manage.

“We started to cover him head to toe with scratch mitts at night as well as full body suits to keep him covered, just we could all get some sleep.”

WHAT IS ECZEMA?

Eczema is a condition that causes the skin to become itchy, red, dry and cracked.

Atopic eczema (the most common form of the condition) is more common in children, often developing before their first birthday.

However, it may also develop for the first time in adults.

It's usually a long-term condition, although it can improve significantly, or even clear completely, in some children as they get older.

The exact cause of eczema is not known.

Symptoms:
Some people only have small patches of dry skin, but others may experience widespread red, inflamed skin all over the body.

It can affect any part of the body but it most often affects the hands, insides of the elbows, backs of the knees and the face and scalp in children.

Treatment:
There are many different treatments to help control eczema, including:

  • self-care techniques, such as reducing scratching and avoiding triggers
  • moisturising treatments used on a daily basis
  • topical corticosteroids to reduce swelling, redness and itching during flare-ups

Perthshire-based Nikki and cementer husband Robert, 40, also overhauled their diet but nothing seemed to help the poor tot.

A turning point came for the family, when a woman from the local chemist recommended they try a natural cream called MooGoo Irritable Skin Balm.

Nikki said: “After a few weeks of using MooGoo my son’s eczema really improved. We are over the moon and can finally get some rest.”

Happy customers including Nikki have been taking to the internet to rave about how the £12.50 cream soothes irritated skin.

One happy shopper raved on Amazon: "Brilliant stuff. I tried it on a patch of eczema on my foot, which, when it flares up, will itch so much I scratch it until it bleeds, the patch is now invisible."

Another added: "The only product that works on my sensitive skin when I get a flare up of dermatitis/ eczema!"

Craig Jones, founder of MooGoo, noticed back in 2005 that his mother was using a white paste made for cow udders to manage her skin condition.

Even though the product did work, it was really thick and difficult to apply, so the then Air Force pilot decided to reformulate the cream.

Now 14 years down the line, he has a best-selling skin care range, available across the globe.

MooGoo now has stockists in the UK, Australia and New Zealand and boast over 40 products for sale including skin care, hair care, dental care, sun care and an Oncology care pack.
