Royal household split because of Prince Harry and Prince William’s ‘differing interests’, claims royal expert

THE Palace has announced that Prince William and Prince Harry are splitting their royal households – and a commentator has claimed this is due to their "differing interests".

Royal aide Dickie Arbiter said the separation of the offices is "nothing sinister" and makes sense with Prince Harry's new phase in Windsor.

It was revealed yesterday that the Queen has given permission for the creation of a new and separate household for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, following their marriage in May last year.

Dicke said the split was “always on the cards” and it "wasn't a case of if but when."

He told Fabulous Digital: “The fact Harry and Meghan are moving from Kensington Palace, it makes sense to move their team too.

“There isn’t anything sinister about it, it’s just two men evolving into their roles.

“William is taking on more responsibilities from his father, while Prince Charles is taking on more responsibilities from the Queen.

“Both of them have the same interests but they also have different interests so it makes sense to have separate offices.

“Harry is involved with Invictus Games and is into rehabilitation for ex-servicemen which is something William doesn’t do. So it makes sense for Harry to set up his own office.

“It’s not a relegation, you can’t relegate a prince. It’s certainly not a lesser role as Prince Harry is in support of the Queen on major occasions like on Commonwealth Day and Remembrance Day.”

Dickie said Prince Harry will continue his “incredible work” working with a “whole raft of charities”, and the decision to move his office to Buckingham Palace was simply down to space.

The royal aide continued: “There isn’t the room at Kensington Palace to set up a separate office so therefore Buckingham Palace is the most sensible place to go.

“William has his apartment at Kensington Palace so it makes sense to be ‘living about the shop’ so to speak.”

Dickie said the decision for Prince Harry to leave his brother at Kensington Palace was down to expecting a baby with Meghan Markle.

He said: “Harry has made the decision to more to Frogmore – again nothing sinister about that - there just isn’t the room at Kensington Palace.

“Nottingham Cottage is very small, it has two bedrooms and two rooms downstairs and no outside space, so there isn’t room to move.

“If you are having a family it makes sense to move somewhere bigger. Frogmore Cottage came up and they jumped at it. It has space and security and is only 20 miles down the road.

“Harry was very much in his comfort zone before he was married.

“Now he’s married and will be a dad, he’s developed his own comfort zone with his wife. People grow up and families don’t live in each other’s pockets.

“Just because Harry is moving house and moving offices doesn’t mean it will destroy a relationship.

“William and Harry have been through a lot together. You can’t remove that from them.”

The palace said on Thursday: "The Household, which will be created with the support of The Queen and The Prince of Wales, will be established in the spring.

“This long-planned move will ensure that permanent support arrangements for The Duke and Duchess's work are in place as they start their family and move to their official residence at Frogmore Cottage."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have appointed Hillary Clinton's campaign advisor Sara Latham as their head of communications, and she will now report directly to the Queen's communications secretary, Donal McCabe.
