KATE Middleton and Meghan Markle appeared to end all rumours of a royal rift this week at Monday’s Commonwealth Day service with a very public warm embrace.

The Duchess of Cambridge planted an affectionate kiss on her sister-in-law’s cheeks, and according to a royal source has been “making a real effort” with Meghan.

According to the palace insider, the kiss was a perfectly well-timed display of unity, right before the Duchess of Sussex is due to give birth to her first child next month.

Speaking to , the source said: “It’s not always been easy, there have been issues behind the scenes, but Harry and Meghan want to leave on good terms and Kate especially has been making a real effort.

“There are no bad feelings and I think Kate was keen to put an end to these rift rumours. She has no problem with Meghan and she has made it clear to Meghan that she’s there for advice or whatever Meghan might need.”

It has been alleged that tension arose between the pair after Meghan "made her sister-in-law cry" after a dress fitting for Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress.

Kate is also said to have berated Meghan after it was claimed Meghan was rude to one of her staff members.

Kensington Palace has denied all rumours of a rift – despite the announcement Prince Harry and Meghan are moving out of their Kensington Palace pad next to Prince William and Kate to live at Windsor Castle.

A separate palace source told Vanity Fair that Kate hoped greeting Meghan with a kiss at Westminster Abbey would show the world the duchesses are on good terms.

And the timing of the gesture was poignant too, as the Commonwealth event is believed to be Meghan’s last official royal engagement before giving birth.

According to the source: “They might not have a huge amount in common but Kate has no issue with Meghan. She wants them to get along, not just for Harry’s sake but because two royal sisters-in-law at loggerheads wouldn’t be good, and Kate knows that.

“For Kate, it’s about keeping their relationship professional and putting on a show of togetherness.”

The source claimed that Meghan and Kate have been in regular contact as the former actress nears her due date – which is believed to be in April.

Although they may be building a warm friendship, it is thought that joint appearances between the Fab Four, won’t be commonly seen as the royal families prepare to split their households.
