Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to hire a MANNY to care for royal baby – here’s the stars who’ve set the trend

Pregnant Meghan wants a male nanny as part of a 'modern American approach' to raising her baby

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle are looking for a male nanny - or 'manny' - to care for their firstborn.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have started making enquiries about employing a ‘manny’ to look after their little one.

A royal insider told Fabulous Digital: “Hiring a ‘manny ‘ is far more common in the US - a nation that Meghan is more in tune with - than in the UK. She’s keen to introduce the royal family to what she considers a more enlightened, modern American approach."

While the source said that the couple is yet to hire a nanny, they are exploring their options at three UK agencies, two based in London.

They continued: “Meghan and Harry are exploring all their options, and  will be employing a nanny from September."

The successful nanny would be based at the Royal couple’s new Frogmore Cottage home in Berkshire and could earn up to £70,000-a-year depending on experience, it has been reported.

They will also be interviewed by Harry and "strong-willed" Meghan.

Speaking to , a source said: “Meghan was clear in telling recruiters she favours an American over a Brit and wants them to feel part of the family rather than a uniformed member of staff.

“That is important to her, she’s never hidden the fact she is fiercely proud of her American roots.

“They are keen to explore the possibility of a male nanny.”

The publication said one of the possible agencies is a West London recruitment firm which specialises in bilingual childminders, as well as nannies trained at Norland College in Bath.

Norland nannies have been favoured by the Royals in the past including by Prince William and wife Kate who hired Spanish-born Maria Teresa Borrallo to look after their three tots.

Hiring a manny is very popular with celebs, and Meghan's got plenty of A-list pals.

Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Biel and Britney Spears are all reported to have retained the services of a live in manny.

And even our own Mary Poppins, Emily Blunt is rumoured to have had male help when it comes to her two daughters Hazel and Violet.

And one possible reason for the royals' decision could be Harry's close relationship with his childhood nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke.

The insider added to Fabulous Digital: "Of course, Harry had a very Tomboyish nanny himself in Tiggy who taught him and William about abseiling, fishing and other outdoor pursuits in Monmouthshire.

“He and Meghan have discussed nannies and both have open mind to a male nanny. They will definitely try to shortlist one.”

Given the emphasis on traditionally male pastimes, it's believed this could be the biggest hint yet that Meghan is having a boy.

"A bilingual nanny is an avenue they both wish to explore. Meghan speaks good Spanish and has been honing her French and will be keen that her offspring retain an ear for languages.

“The Cambridges’ Spanish nanny Maria Borallo has been teaching George and Charlotte conversational Spanish, a fact not missed by the Sussexes!”

Kensington Palace declined to comment on the claims.

This comes as Meghan's half-sister Samantha has said she thinks the Duchess will “butt heads” with the new baby's nannies.

Elsewhere bookies say that Diana has been revealed as the favourite potential name for the royal baby.
