Mum uses hairspray to get her kids’ ‘permanent’ marker doodles off her sofa
IT is a truth universally acknowledged that there is no greater cleaning challenge than removing pesky permanent marker stains.
Well if you've ever accidentally dropped a marker on a freshly cleaned carpet or scribbled on a surface by accident, then you might want to give this incredible new cleaning hack a try...
Posting incredible before-and-after photos on the , a woman desperately asked for help after her toddler scribbled all over her sofa in black permanent marker.
Along with several crying emojis, the woman simply wrote: "HELP!!! Permanent marker..."
And considering the brown felt sofa was completely covered in countless black doodles, we can't blame the mum for thinking her furniture was a lost cause.
However, fellow cleaning fanatics were quick to recommend a spritz of hairspray to tackle the stubborn stains.
One replied: "Hairspray and rub it. Works like magic."
Another added: "Spray hair spray and leave for a couple of minutes then wipe off then wash with warm soapy water and dry."
Desperate to try anything to remove the marker, the woman gave the cushions a single spritz with a hairspray and was amazed by the instant results.
After posting a photo of the sofa during the process, the mum continued to spray affected areas and then wipe down with a towel.
As hairspray has a high alcohol content, this active ingredient means it also serves the unlikely purpose of also removing stains.
Showing off the results with her fellow 98,700 members, the mum said her sofa was looking "much better" after a few layers of the unlikely cleaning product.
Unsurprisingly, one user was blown away by the results and replied: "I'm amazed by how well it works."
Meanwhile, another added :"Makes me wonder what the hell is in hairspray that makes it so awesome for cleaning..."
