Meghan Markle fans go wild after Serena Williams posts cryptic tea tweet
ROYAL fans have gone wild after Serena Williams appeared to confirm she was one of the anonymous friends who had spoken out in support of Meghan Markle.
The American tennis star shared a picture of herself on Twitter sipping a cup of tea just hours after the Duchess of Sussex's "inner circle" broke their silence in a new interview - and her 10.9 million fans are certain she was revealing her involvement in the piece.
Shortly after five women "close" to Meghan, 37, spoke out in her defence about the "lies and untruths" surrounding the royal in an interview with - where one close pal also said "she made tea every day" when they visited her at Kensington Palace - the 37-year-old sportswoman shared a cryptic post.
Serena can be seen sipping, somewhat regally, from a white tea cup and glancing elegantly away from the camera - in a shot that is also reminiscent of one taken of the pregnant Duchess enjoying a cuppa at an engagement recently.
The mum-of-one - who has been friends with Meghan since they met at a party in 2010, and who attended her wedding to Prince Harry last year - looked stylish in a £3,829 navy Fendi logo blazer and sleek bun for the snap.
She captioned the image, "sips tea..." and so far the post has racked up over 13k 'likes' and more than 1.4million shares.
While the "friends" have not been named to "protect" their private relationship with Meghan, many of Serena's followers believe she has dropped a very heavy hint she is one of them.
They rushed to comment on her post and praise her for supporting her friend.
Beside two pictures of the Duchess, one wrote: "Love it Serena! You're an amazing friend."
Another captioned a pic of the former actress sipping tea: "Thank you for being a great friend. Please tell Meghan she has many people around the world who loves her. We love you too."
A third shared: "You’re a great friend, Serena! Let Meghan know we have her back and we’re praying for her!"
Meanwhile a fourth, including an old of snap of the women together, commented: "Besties have each other’s back."

Earlier today, we told you how in the same interview, Meghan's close pals revealed she "cooks for Harry every day" in their "cosy" cottage.
They also said she "loves feeding" her guests, something that hasn't changed since the former actress became a royal.
"In the room she made up for me, there was a candle lit by the bed, slippers and a robe," the pal continued.
