Mum uses £3.50 two-ingredient trick to clean her filthy grill and oven trays – and the results are incredible

WHEN it comes to household chores we really can't be bothered to do, giving our knackered old oven trays a thorough deep clean features pretty high on the list.

Luckily for us, a new home hack has been revealed which cleans rusty old oven trays and tired and battered grills with very little effort.

Posting incredible before-and-after photos on the Facebook group , one user revealed how a bit of tin foil and a dishwasher tablet can go a long way when it comes to deep cleaning trays.

Keen to share the "amazing hack" with the group's 96,000 members, the woman said all she did was "wrap trays/racks in foil, place in a tub or a sink of very hot/boiling water then rest a dishwasher tablet or two against the foil when it the water."

She added: "Leave for an hour then remove the foil and simply wipe off the grime!!"

And even though we've all had to soak our filthy oven trays and racks in hot soapy water at one point, the trick to this cleaning hack is the chemical reaction between the aluminium foil and hot soapy water which dissolves grime.

And as for those extra stubborn spots? The mum added: "You can use a steel wool scourer and they'll come off pretty quickly."

What's more, the ingenious hack also works a treat on oven trays too.

After seeing the incredible before-and-after transformations in the Facebook group, another mum decided to give her tired oven trays a spruce up.

Shocked by the remarkably quick results, she wrote: "I can't believe how well it worked.

"The one on the right is how the one on the left looked!"

Meanwhile, another mum was left "absolutely amazed by the dishwasher tablet/foil idea for oven trays."

After soaking her oven trays in the tub for three hours, the woman was stunned by the transformation which left them looking as good as new.

And while the grime was super easy to wipe off, it thankfully "didn't stain the bath" either.
