‘Sexist and racist’ abuse against Kate and Meghan has got so bad that royal staff are struggling to delete it all
A source claims that some of the comments left on Instagram have included violent threats towards the duchesses and other users
ONLINE abuse against Kate and Meghan has got so bad that Kensington Palace is struggling to delete it all.
Some people have even made “violent threats” towards the two duchesses, according to .
A source revealed that the palace monitor comments on social media and “block certain words”, but some of the abuse has become “quite serious”.
They said: “Over the course of last year, with hundreds of thousands of comments, there were two or three that were violent threats.
“It follows a Kate vs Meghan narrative and some of the worst stuff is between Kate fans and Meghan fans.
"Arguments about who looks more appropriate, for example, that turn into personal attacks on other users. It’s creating a supercharged atmosphere and everyone can join in, but what are the consequences of this?"
The level of vitriol, including racism, on the Royal Family’s social media has led staff to seek help from Instagram.
Neither of the duchesses have their own Instagram accounts, with Meghan closing her personal one a year ago before her marriage to Prince Harry, but abuse is directed on Kensington Palace’s page.
After just five minutes of scanning, vile comments such as Megan is a 'tramp', 'manipulative' and 'a narcissist' can be seen while Kate gets slammed for being 'anorexic' and 'boring.'
The source added: “You can delete and report and block people and the police have options around particular people. It’s something you have to manage because there’s no other way to control it."
And the hateful comments are not just directed towards the two duchesses.
People have also been cruelly attacking other Instagram users, with one poster telling another to "drink bleach", over their opposing views.
During Harry and Meghan’s tour of New Zealand last year, one troll commented on a video of the couple: “Soon it will be me who is next to Harry and Megssy will be gone.”
The message was followed by six images of a kitchen knife.
Others accused her of bleaching her skin to look whiter — and some even claim she has faked her pregnancy.
A pal said: “Meg became really upset by it. Suggestions she wasn’t even pregnant were just horrible.”
Instagram’s policy states: “We want to foster a positive, diverse community. We remove content that contains credible threats or hate speech, content that targets private individuals to degrade or shame them, personal information meant to blackmail or harass someone, and repeated unwanted messages.
“It's never OK to encourage violence or attack anyone based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disabilities, or diseases.”
We recently reported how cruel haters have been taking to social media making bizarre claims that Meghan is faking her pregnancy and wearing a false bump.
Some have even posted on Twitter with the hashtag #Megxit to share their views.
