A BREAST cancer survivor has turned to telly doctors for help because her boobs smelled "like death".
Brave Ann-Marie appeared on the TV show "Botched" after she had a double mastectomy and stomach flap op for reconstructive purposes.
But bruising and necrosis (which is where your tissue starts to die off) soon started to destroy her body - leaving her with blackened holes and dead flesh.
She said that after the procedure, she was instructed to "stuff the holes with saline soaked gauze".
"There were times that I would just tremble because it smelled like death," she said.
"It tore me apart, it really did."
Ann-Marie said that she'd had a doctor look at her and ask whether a fellow medic had really been responsible for her botched appearance - or whether an intern had operated on her.
Necrosis usually tends to happen after injury, infection, cancer, toxins and inflammation, which end up promoting the body to release a special enzyme.
This chemical can digest parts of cells - or entire cells - with the end effect being your flesh essentially eating itself.
Although Ann-Marie's husband John wasn't concerned about her scars, he did hope that surgery would help his wife smile again.
The pair approached the Botched docs in the hope that they might be able to improve her condition slightly.
She told them that she had partly come to terms with the fact that her body has so much scarring - but that hasn't stopped her dreaming.
"I want to not look in the mirror and cringe," she said.
After examining Ann-Marie, Dr Terry Dubrow ruled she needed a "very significant operation on the breast" and had to "completely redo the tummy tuck portion."
Even though "this was an extraordinarily difficult operation," Dr Dubrow left the operating theatre feeling "really, really happy" about his work.
After the op, Ann-Marie had her nipples tattooed on by a medical tattoo artist.
Delighted with the results, Ann-Marie said she finally felt as though she "no longer looked like a monster".
"Those scars are gone. I am happy with what I see and I don't mind if John catches a peek, either."
