Harry Potter’s JK Rowling says wizards used to ‘relieve themselves where they stood then vanish the evidence’ before muggle plumbing
JK Rowling has grossed Harry Potter fans out by revealing a disgusting fact about witches and wizards.
The fan website Pottermore - known for providing new facts from the 53-year-old author – said before muggle plumbing, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry did not have bathrooms.
This meant that witches and wizards would simply urinate “wherever they stood” and then “vanish” the evidence.
The trivia has been retweeted nearly 18,000 times and led to more than 52,000 responses on Twitter, with many fans wishing the information had never been revealed.
The tweet sparked many questions. One wrote: “Vanishing is taught in year four so what did they do with the younger students/child?”
Others were confused as to why Rowling felt the need to divulge such stomach-churning facts.
“Like Jesus Christ, the wizarding world isn’t real, you don’t need to tell us every goddam detail. What, next JK Rowling is going to let us know Harry had diarrhoea the day he defeated Voldemort,” commented one fan.
Another shared a meme of Hagrid with the caption: “Pottermore be like… I should NOT have said that.”
While another joked: “Voldemort was right. Hogwarts deserved to burn.”
