AWKWARD encounters can be mortifying at the best of times, but when you're a celebrity at one of the biggest awards shows of the year, there's really nowhere to run or hide.

Especially when your embarrassing moment has been caught on 10 cameras.

From Emma Stone's incredibly awkward three-way "hug" with Damien Chazelle, to Ryan Reynolds' awful spray tan, we've rounded up the most horrendous moments from the Golden Globes.

Including the time Ewan McGregor thanked his wife and ex-girlfriend in one acceptance speech.

Leo goes Gaga

Leonardo DiCaprio certainly knows how to give a killer side eye.

When Lady Gaga went up to receive her award for Best Actress in a Limited Series, she brushed past Leo and accidentally bumped into him.

Hilariously, Leo - who looked pretty taken aback - shot Gaga a sneaky side eye and the internet went into meltdown

The actor later explained that he was simply caught off guard, but it didn't stop fans sharing a stream of hilarious memes and tweets.

Seth Rogan's awkward joke

At 2012's award ceremony, Seth appeared on stage with Kate Beckinsale to present the award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture.

But before he opened the envelope, he said: "Hello, I’m Seth Rogen and I am currently trying to conceal a massive erection."

Cue plenty of awkward laughs...

The time Ewan McGregor thanked his ex wife and new girlfriend

In a clip that was almost too painful to revisit, Ewan McGregor took to the stage at last year's ceremony, to accept the award for Best Actor for his role in Fargo.

During the speech, viewers were rather shocked when Ewan thanked both his ex wife, Eve Mavrakis and his new partner, Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

"I want to take a moment to just say thank you to Eve, who always stood by me for 22 years," he said.

"And my four children Clara, Esther, Jamyan and Anouk. I love you and you know.

"... There wouldn't have been any Emmit Stussy without David Thewlis and Michael Stuhlbarg and Carrie Coon.

";And there would have been no Ray without Mary Elizabeth Winstead."

Eve later revealed she was not impressed by her ex husband's speech.

When Renee was nowhere to be found

If you've been nominated for an award, it's probably not a good idea to go to the bathroom while the winner is being announced, right?

Which is why it was mega awks when Renee Zellweger won the title Best Actress for her role in Nurse Betty back in 2001 - but was in the loo when her name was read.

Shouting "Renee, where is she?" Hugh Grant - who was presenting the award - almost had to accept on her behalf.

Seconds later, a flustered and embarrassed Renee emerged from the bathroom, declaring she "had lipstick on her teeth".

Ryan Reynolds' intense fake tan

When Ryan Reynolds arrived at the Golden Globes in 2017 with an epic, orange spray tan, Twitter went into meltdown.

Presenting an award alongside Emma Stone, one viewer even accused the actor of "trying to match Emma's hair" while another said he looked like an oompa loompa.

Emma Stone's epic hug fail

Emma Stone's mortifying blunder could be our favourite Golden Globes moment of all time.

The unforgettable fail happened when La La Land won Best Screenplay in 2017.

Turning around to congratulate - and hug - director Damien Chazelle, Emma ended up in a very awkward three-way embrace as Damien was trying to hug his girlfriend Olivia Hamilton, instead.

Emma looked mortified and we've been watching it on loop.

When no-one cared about Tom Hiddleston's speech

Keep it short and sweet, that's the golden rule of an awards speech.

But, when Tom Hiddleston arrived onstage to accept his gong for Best Actor in a Mini-Series for his role in The Night Manager, the audience's response was mega awks indeed.

It was a hilarious moment when Nicole Kidman tried to kiss her husband, Keith Urban, during last year's ceremony.

After winning Best Actress in a Limited Series for her role in Big Little Lies, Nicole goes to kiss Keith - but just can't seem to locate his lips.

She got there in the end - but Twitter found it hilarious.
