If you can't find the exact nail colour you envisage, or the right kind of shampoo for your hair type, it might be time for a change.

To help, we’ve collated some of the best DIY beauty recipes around - they’re all super easy to follow, and could save you money too.
Nail polish
What you'll need:
- Agitator balls
- Miniature funnel
- Natural pigment powder
- Micro scoop
- Part empty clear nail polish
How to:
- Place down a few paper towels and start by adding an agitator ball into your clear nail polish bottle. Then insert the miniature funnel into the bottle’s neck.
- Use the mini scoop to add the pigment into the funnel. Use one quarter to on half teaspoon for a more opaque colour.
- Tap the bottle to drop all the colour in and remove the funnel.
- Screw the cap on and shake for about 30 to 60 seconds until the mix looks well blended.
- To use, apply a base coat to your nails, then apply your DIY nail polish colour before finishing with a clear top coat.
Lip tint
What you'll need:
- Empty lip gloss container
- Aloe Vera gel
- Food colouring
- Essential oil
How to:
- Take the amount of Aloe Vera gel that equals the amount of tint you want to make.
- Add in a few drops of food colouring at a time and mix.
- Stop adding the food colouring when you have the tint colour you like and add in a few drops of essential oil until the mixture is smooth, but not too runny.
- Add a little peppermint oil or honey to add scent.
- Remember don’t fill up your lip gloss container all the way, as you’ll need room for the applicator to fit inside.
Shampoo and conditioner
What you'll need:
- Empty shampoo bottle
- 118ml water
- 118ml castile vegetable-based liquid soap
- 1 teaspoon light vegetable oil or glycerine (leave out if you have oily hair)
- A few drops of your favourite essential oil
How to:
- Combine the ingredients, mix them well, and put in an empty shampoo bottle.
Conditioner:
- For homemade conditioner, combine 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 450ml of water.
- Add your favourite essential oil for fragrance.
- Put ingredients in empty conditioner bottle and shake well to combine.
- Shake well before applying to hair.
