Kate Middleton switched schools at age 14 after she was bullied for being ‘too perfect’
Kate is said to have moved from the £28,875-a-year Downe House school in Berkshire after being picked on by vicious girls
MANY kids struggle at school – and even Kate Middleton didn’t have a great experience during her teenage years.
The Duchess of Cambridge, 36, is said to have moved schools when she was 14 due to some mean classmates.
Kate left all-girls private school Downe House mid-way through her school year in 1996 after being “teased” by other pupils.
She then moved to Marlborough College in Wiltshire, where she is said to have loved her time as a boarder.
Marlborough schoolmate Gemma Williamson told the : “Apparently she had been bullied very badly and she certainly looked thin and pale. She had very little confidence.”
And her house tutor Joan Gall said Kate had even suffered from eczema from the stress.
Joan said: “When she arrived she was very quiet. Coming into a big school like Marlborough was difficult, but she settled in quickly.”
Meanwhile, Downe House school pal Jessica Hay said Kate was left an “emotional wreck” from the bullying.
Jessica said: “She was picked on because she was perfect, well turned-out and lovely.”
When Kate and Prince William tied the knot in 2011, they asked wedding guests to donate to charity Beatbullying and they work together on the mental health campaign Heads Together.
Marlborough College boasts an observatory and a swimming pool with a movable floor to change its depth in its 280 acre grounds.
Kate is reportedly thinking of sending Prince George to the £12,605-a-term boarding school, after the Middleton siblings had such a positive time there.
The friend told the DailyMail: “William and Catherine surprised many with their choice of Thomas’s Battersea for George over more traditional royal schools, but picked it because they felt it was the right fit for him.
“They are very keen to allow George to spread his wings as a child and won’t ever do what people expect them to do when it comes to their children.”
Marlborough has been a rule breaker for a while, being the first of the traditional boys’ schools to admit girls into the sixth form.
