Prince Charles reveals his fears for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby because the ‘world is being destroyed by pollution’
The royal spoke openly about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's upcoming new arrival
IN a matter of weeks, the Royal family will welcome a new addition - but one person who has expressed fears for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first born is Prince Charles.
The 70-year-old revealed his concerns over what lies ahead for his grandchild in "this completely polluted, damaged and destroyed world".
Prince Charles called for an end to plastic pollution during his royal visit to Ghana in November as well as speaking about The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's upcoming new arrival.
"I am about to have another grandchild actually," he said.
"I suspect quite a few of you may too have grandchildren or will do soon.
“It does seem to me insanity if we are going to bequeath this completely polluted, damaged and destroyed world to them."
“All grandchildren deserve a better future, " he continued.
"The amount of plastic entering the Ocean every year is, unbelievably, set to get worse rather than better.
"We cannot, indeed must not, allow this situation to continue.
"A solution is achievable and simply has to be done for all our sakes – and, above all, for the long-term viability of all those species in the sea which are already suffering unbearably because of our actions."
Prince Charles has always had strong views regarding the environment.
Speaking in documentary Prince, Son and Heir, Prince William and Prince Harry revealed their father would often take them litter picking.
"We were in Norfolk on school holidays, and we went out litter-picking with him," said William.
"And again, both of us thought, 'Well this is perfectly normal, everyone must do it'.
"We were there with our spikes, stabbing the rubbish into black plastic bags."
