Woman, 28, sheds an incredible 4 stone WITHOUT going to the gym – and eating more than before
Lucy Lismore managed to slim down and tone up in just 10 months - all from the comfort of her home
MOST of us think that in order to lose weight, we've got to give up sofa time for hours down the gym.
But one super-fit dieter has proved that you can totally transform your body from the comfort of your living room - no gym equipment required.
, 28, lost a staggering 4st 7lbs in just ten months without stepping foot in a gym and says that she eats more now than ever.
The Melbourne-based medical administrator said that at her heaviest, her weight affected her self-esteem every day.
When she was at her heaviest, Lucy was eating what most people would consider to be a healthy diet.
She existed off home-cooked meals with lots of veggies, as well as "healthy" snacks. And, she says, she was physically active day to day but had no strict exercise or fitness regime.
Breakfast would consist of a muffin or croissant, washed down with a large, sugary coffee. She'd then have an orange juice and muesli bar for her elevenses, and sushi for lunch.
Everything changed, however, when she watched a weight loss transformation show and was amazed at how different everyone looked.
"I was watching a body transformation TV show one day and was amazed by how amazing they all looked!" she told The Sun.
"That was the point that I decided to change everything and taught myself about nutrition and exercise."
"I started calisthenics because after losing most of the weight, I set a New Years resolution to be able to do a chin up ( I couldn’t even hang off a bar and barely do a push up).
"To do that I started using Instagram and internet resources and saw lots of calisthenics/ bodyweight moves which I started to try and I became hooked. "It’s so fun, can be done anywhere (no equipment needed) and requires control of your entire body to master a move! It can be frustrating when you don’t see improvements immediately but when you finally master a move it’s an amazing feeling!"
Calisthetics is a form of gymnastic exercises that focus on minimal equipment and body weight.
LUCY'S DIET BEFORE AND AFTER
BEFORE
Breakfast: muffin or croissant and a large coffee with lots of sugar
Snack: muesli bar and orange juice
Lunch: baguette with ham and salad or four sushi rolls
Snack: another large coffee
Dinner: a large bowl of pasta with garlic bread.
Dessert: ice cream
AFTER
Breakfast: garlic mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, a slice on avocado toast, wilted spinach and poached eggs
Snack: banana
Lunch: a vegetable bowl with chicken breast or falafel
Snack: dark chocolate or nut mix and coconut yoghurt
Dinner: salmon, mashed sweet potato and Greek salad
She says that while she still eats sugar, she eats a lot less of it now. For her, getting fit enough to start learning calisthetics is the thing that's really helped her confidence to skyrocket.
"As long as the majority of your diet is healthy and nutritious there is no need to completely cut anything out - it’s definitely down to habit forming," she told us.
"The first few weeks are really difficult (I still struggle with that now), to cut down coffee, for example. The first day is easy, maybe even the second day and then it gets harder to maintain. Eventually, though it gets easier and those decisions you had to make before are no longer as hard.
"I weighed 90kg, thought I was eating healthy and didn’t even know how to get started with exercise! It was a confusing time full of conflicting information about what diet you should eat and what exercise you should perform!"
Today she goes to the gym three times a week but that's only something that's come about since losing the weight.
"I lost all of the weight before even stepping foot in a gym because I was too scared!" she said.
"If you are too scared to go the gym then don’t go to the gym! Exercise and weight loss should be an enjoyable process. You are doing something amazing for yourself and your body and you should enjoy every moment of it.
"So if going to the gym is daunting or boring find a form of exercise you love. Even if that is just dancing around your living room - I regularly do that in between filming videos for Instagram and training at home. Find some HIIT videos online and perform these in your living room, work on some basics calisthenics such as push-ups and sit-ups but also find cool moves to try and do those too and just give it a go.
"No one is watching so find something that you love to do and exercise will become the best part of your day - no gym membership or equipment required!
And when she's not at the gym, she makes sure that she's being as active as possible - walking everywhere, standing up as much as she can or being outside.
"It’s not about completely restricting your food intake, just simply eat fewer calories - however if you want to eat in volume, choosing more nutrient dense, fibre rich foods will be much more beneficial that foods with lots of saturated fats and sugar, as well as better for your overall health.
"With regards to exercise there is a huge variety of options available and I guarantee you will find some form of movement which you truely enjoy and that enriches your life.
"I lost nearly all of the weight I lost without ever stepping foot in a gym (the idea petrified me)! -
"Above all consistency is the ultimate key to losing fat. Ignore the naysayers, ignore the plateaus and constant monitoring and it will happen! I promise!
"Finally the reason I am so passionate about this topic and meeting people like me is not because losing weight makes you look better and feel better about yourself necessarily - because quite frankly I still have many days I feel exactly the same.
"However, through this journey I have found something that has added so much happiness, learning and strength to my life and that is the exercise I do every day and the people I meet through it!"
