DISTRAUGHT Caerwen Williams took this snap of her premature baby Isobel – fearing she had an hour to live.
The mum had developed dangerously high blood pressure and her little daughter was delivered via C-section 15 weeks premature, weighing just 1lb 1oz. Minutes later, Isobel was being resuscitated and put on a ventilator with a feeding tube.

Caerwen, 34, was treated for pre-eclampsia and was not able to see her baby until the next morning at Singleton Hospital, Swansea.
She said: “One of the doctors told me she was on 100 per cent oxygen on her ventilator but that her system was still starved of oxygen.
“He said that unless her stats went up in the next hour there would be nothing they could do.”
After the longest 40 minutes of her life, Caerwen and partner Stephen James, 42, were told Isobel was pulling through.

She still faced a four-and-a-half month hospital stay, battling lung disease, rotavirus, sepsis and a portion of her bowel dying.
But Isobel came home weighing 6lb 1oz — and is now looking forward to turning five on Tuesday.
Caerwen, who got pregnant with Isobel nine months after the birth of son Isaac, was so moved by her experience she now volunteers for charity Bliss, which trains doctors and nurses to help parents care for their premature babies.

The mum, from Bridgend, South Wales, who is backing The Sun’s Light Up Christmas appeal to raise money for Bliss, said: “We’re lucky Isobel pulled through. Not every trip to neonatal intensive care ends as happily as ours did.
“So I felt like I should give something back and support other families in our position.”
