Fashion label Fecal Matter unveil thigh high boots designed to look like human skin… and they’ve left fans seriously divided
The shoes, made from silicon shaped and moulded to match the designer's leg, start at £7,790 a pair
THERE'S one thing owning shoes that feel like a second skin - and another wearing a pair that actually LOOKS like one.
Fashion label Fecal Matter has unveiled its latest creation just in time for Halloween - thigh-high heeled boots complete with individual toes, fleshy heels and a couple of satanic horns for good measure.
The only part of the boot that doesn't look like a warped and twisted extension of a human leg is the plastic platform beneath the ball of the foot.
Headed up by Hannah Rose Dalton and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, this is the brand's debut when it comes to footwear.
The duo, known for their freakish designs, extreme make-up and fantasy-driven clothing line, posted a pair of skin coloured shoes on its Instagram page earlier this year.
Fans praised them for the Photoshop skills - but now the nightmarish boots are a reality, thanks to some pretty impressive prosthetic skills.
"But at the same time, there is always this dysphoria in us. There is this urge inside of us to take what we do on the Internet and try to create that via real life. That is what we are doing with the shoes."
Fecal Matter’s philosophy behind the footwear, which merges fantasy with reality, reflects what they believe humans will eventually look like in this era of body modification, social media and technological advances.
Each part of the shoes was made from silicon shaped and moulded so that it matched Dalton's leg - even down to the colour, moles, dents, the arch of the foot and hair.
They worked with artist Sarah Sitkin, who specialises in creating replica bodies and body parts (as you do).
They described the making of the "couture" shoe as being like "going to Chanel to get a wedding dress".
Dalton said: "You get the fittings and the customisations. For even me to get the shoe, I have to stand and each of my legs have to be perfectly moulded."
The price is fittingly couture - they start at £7,790 ($10,000) a pair.
The shoes have left fans seriously divided. One commented: “I hate this so much," while another asked: "WTF is this?? Godd."
But many praised the "art", with one writing: "F*** I need these in my after life," and another commenting: "Gorgeous. This is art to me."
"This is so delightfully out there," said another, and one fan admitted: "These are horrifying and I totally want to wear them."
We previously told how this Hollywood star is unrecognisable with prosthetic make-up – but can you guess who it is?
