Mum reveals she got her 11-year-old daughter’s legs waxed – and people’s responses will shock you
The woman wanted to know if other mums thought her daughter was too young to get her leg hair waxed
A MUM revealed she took her 11-year-old daughter to get her legs waxed.
The woman, writing on Mumsnet, told she took her "[because] they were very hairy and she has been begging me to let her shave for ages."
She added: "She smiled throughout! [It] wasn’t painful at all apparently."
And some mums said they thought her actions were right - and admitted they too "dealt" with their daughter's dark hair.
One mum revealed: "My DD [dear daughter] was 11 when we started dealing with her very dark hair.
"She was very self conscious about her dark hair on her arms and face. When I found her trying to pull the hair out of her arms that was it."
Another added: "Not unreasonable to remove the hair but waxing would surely be too painful for an 11 year old. I can't handle it and I'm an adult!"
One mum wrote: "Far better than shaving, I think, so why not?"
Another added: "If an 11-year-old is asking for help with something that’s making them self conscious and is easily fixed, then it’s a no brainer."
But one mum admitted she had "mixed feelings" about allowing this in such a young girl.
"I do think it's a shame that our society makes girls feel their bodies are somehow wrong as they are. Boys don't feel like this do they?" she said.
And another mum added: "Look different? Embrace your differences. Too tall? Be proud of yourself! Too short? Be proud and certainly don’t complain, because you have your health etc Too fat? Embrace and be proud. Don’t even suggest losing weight because you’re being teased - they shouldn’t be teasing you.
"In other situations, it would be counted as victim blaming/shaming and be told never to bow down to pressure. I wonder why this situation is different."
