A RICH kid got a shock to the system after moving in with a struggling family whose monthly budget is less than his average meal out.
Kofi Case, 18, who is used to £10K holidays and five-star hotels, tried his first ever cheese sandwich and frozen food on Rich Kids Go Skint.
The self-confessed “shopaholic” is the son of multi-millionaire parents who own an international catering company.
He often spends around £700 a day on shopping, £100 on lunches at the Ritz, and meals out racking up bills of £250.
His champagne life is a far cry from Leytonstone couple Nicky and Paul and their three kids Brooke 10, Macie, eight, and Paige, two, who have around just £200 to live off for a month after rent and bills.
Kofi, who headed to a council estate for the first ever time, told the Sun Online the frozen food served to him by the family was very different to the usual meals he is used to in top London restaurants.
Kofi said: “Cheese sandwiches were weird and we had really weird pizzas they were really like elastic-y tasting.
“The texture was weird and just like chips and just like normal frozen foods but yeh I just don’t eat that often so whatever.
“When I think of a freezer I just expect ice cream or ice cubes not like meals. So they had like full meals and lots of stuff in the freezer that I’m not used to.”
He was shocked that families had to tightly watch what they spend in order to make ends meet.
He said: “I’d never met anyone on benefits. I literally don’t really have a budget. I don’t really.
“Like £200 for the whole month I was definitely shocked. That’s what I spend on like a dinner. My one meal is their monthly spend so that was kind of surprising.”
During his stay with the family on the 5Star show, Kofi was tasked with doing something he had never done before, cleaning a bathroom.
He said: “Normally well I have a cleaner in London so I don’t really clean anything normally. That was the first time I had cleaned a bathroom so I was super proud.”
And even sleeping on a sofa was a new experience for him, and he said: “I did struggle on the sofa that was super uncomfortable.
“I tried to be polite at all times and I tried to not complain but that was really uncomfortable.”
Despite their council estate being a few miles east of his well-trodden Bond Street, Kofi confessed that he didn’t even think it looked like the same city.
Normally well I have a cleaner in London so I don’t really clean anything normally. That was the first time I had cleaned a bathroom so I was super proud.

The Rich Kid said: “They didn’t have much garden, they didn’t have much space in the house.
“There were five of them and it was a two-person house so they were literally living on top of each other.
“Space and privacy is what I love about where I live so they definitely lacked that.
“I did feel a bit unsafe at times like when we went out the house walking around the area because I was aware there were like acid attacks around the area and stuff so that was not easy for me to do, to walk around there.
“So that was scary, but apart from that I think it was all a good experience.”
As part of the show, Kofi was given the challenge of throwing a six-person birthday party for daughter Macie on just £30.
In the supermarket Kofi headed straight over to buy a £8 piñata and £6 sweets, using up nearly half of the budget within minutes.
Kofi revealed: “Definitely the most challenging part was the shopping task.
“I had £30 to spend on the shop so I didn’t manage to do it unfortunately like I overspent.
“But I just had no idea, also it was such a small budget and I never really gone grocery shopping or anything so I just had no idea how to do it so that was quite challenging.”
With a tiny amount left over at the end of each month, Nicky and Paul can’t splash out on treats for the family, and often eat sandwiches in the park on a bench for fun.
Kofi, on the other hand, heads to the spa each week for £300 treatments and when he’s not living in his family’s country mansion in Sheffield, hotel hops between five-star hotels in London such as the Dorchester and the Shangri-La.
I’d never met anyone on benefits. I literally don’t really have a budget. I don’t really.

This lack of freedom was something Kofi really struggled with during his time.
He admitted: “It was so repetitive I would have got sick of that.
“You do the same thing over and over and they don’t have last minute ideas and if they want to go somewhere last minute they can’t they have to think of childcare and they have to think of money and they had so much responsibility which was super stressful.”
Despite the experience being a shock to the system, Kofi said he’s glad he took part in the show and still keeps in regular contact with the family.
He said: “Yeah we still keep in touch, we spoke on Instagram yesterday so we’re still in communication. They were super nice.
“I thought it was a good experience, I really liked the family which made the whole experience a lot easier.
“I did feel a bit sorry for the kids just cos they didn’t have that many things like I did when I was their age but they seemed very happy. They were lovely kids as well.
“I feel like I definitely learnt a lot and I was really educated about things that they do on a day-to-day that I had no idea about.”
So has his time with the family changed his life in anyway?
Kofi, who is now on a “permanent gap year” admitted: “I don’t think so, I mean since I’ve done the experience from the show I’ve kind of gone back to how I lived before.
“But it’s definitely one of those things that like it’s an experience so it might sort of have affected me in some way but I haven’t really noticed any changes in my habits.
“I feel like it would be cool if they could come into my life and see a similar thing that I did. So hopefully they will join me soon.
“I’ve invited them to have afternoon tea with me at the Ritz so hopefully they’ll come join and we’ll have a day.”
