Keira Knightley reveals she’s BANNED her daughter from watching Disney princess films
The mum of one says she doesn't want little Edie, three, to think she needs a man to save her
KEIRA Knightley has revealed she's banned her daughter from watching Disney princess films, because she doesn't want her to think she needs a man to save her.
The actress, 33, said three-year-old Edie isn't allowed to watch "sexist" classic Cinderella (which dates back to 1950) or The Little Mermaid (1989), but some modern movies are allowed.
Speaking on The Ellen Show yesterday, Keira said: "Cinderella - banned because she waits around for the rich guy to rescue her. Don't. Rescue yourself, obviously.
"This is the one I'm quite annoyed about because I love The Little Mermaid and the songs are great, but do not give your voice up for a man.
"That one's a little tricky, but I'm keeping to it."
But Keira, who's starring in The Nutcracker and the Four Realms this Christmas, doesn't have a blanket ban on all House of Mouse films.
The mum-of-one said Frozen, Moana and Finding Dory are all favourites in her house.
Keira, who married Klaxons musician James Righton in 2013, also revealed Edie wants to be a dentist when she grows up - or a lion.
She said: "She wanted to be a dentist, I'm not sure why, she loves Peppa Pig and fell in love with a dentist episode.
"Now she wants to a be a lion, she roars very well! Even if she wanted to be an actress, I'm going to support her in anything she wants to do."
Discussing Keira's ban on Good Morning Britain today, Piers Morgan dismissed it as a "load of flannel" - with a poll showing 92 per cent of viewers agreed with him.
