Patsy, who has been married four times, showed fans her getting fine hairs on her face threaded away.

The mum-of-two wrote on Instagram: “Threading away at my menopausal beard. The whiskers are pinging all over the floor but I no longer have a 5 o’clock shadow.”

Threading originated in India and sees thin thread rolled and twisted over hair to remove it from the root.

Patsy’s post clearly struck a chord with online users, with it racking up 1,500 likes and numerous comments from fans praising her for embracing the subject – which is often considered a taboo.

And one Instagram user added: “Yes!!! I live with my tweezers and my magnifying mirror! I know the feeling.”

Back in 2013, Patsy opened up about going through early menopause when she was 45.

It came about after she had emergency hysterectomy following a tumour developing on her ovary and having her pancreas removed.

The former Emmerdale actress said on This Morning: “This terrible menopause means that I get a dry mouth and the sweats.

“My emotions are all over the place, so if I burst into tears it’s not because I’m unhappy or I’ve had a terrible life, it’s just that my emotions are all on the surface.

“I’m laughing about it now, but it’s really tough because, aside from anything else, you’re asking yourself, ‘Am I less of a woman now?’”

The London-born beauty was previously married to musician Liam as well as Dan Donovan, Jim Kerr and Jeremy Healy.

Patsy's eldest son, James, with Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr, is now 25, while her boy with Liam Gallagher, Lennon, is 19.
