Met’s Costume Institute announce ‘camp’ theme for 2019 Gala – and it’ll be co-chaired by Serena Williams, Lady Gaga, and Harry Styles

The curator of the Met's Costume Institute called Donald Trump a 'very camp figure'

THE Met Gala 2019's theme has just been announced, and things are about to get campy.

The "camp" theme is inspired by a 1964 essay in which American author Susan Sontag defined camp by its "love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration".

It has just been announced that the co-chairs chosen to join Anna Wintour on the board in 2019 are singers Lady Gaga and Harry Styles, who are both known for their huge artistic influence.

Sportswoman Serena Williams is the last celebrity co-chair, although she, along with Gaga and Styles, did not attend this year's Gala.

Anna Wintour is the leading lady of the event, overseeing every detail and keeping the exclusive guest list in check, but every year a selection of influential celebrities are chosen to co-chair.
