Diana only met Prince Charles 12 TIMES before they married – but pal claims the princess said he was the only man she’d ever loved before her death
WHEN Prince Charles and Princess Diana wed in July 1981, they had only been engaged for five months.
And now, it's reported that the couple had only seen each other 12 times before the big day.
According to Susan Zirinsky - senior executive producer of documentary, Princess Diana: Her Life, Her Death, Her Truth - the couple hadn't spent a great deal of time together before their wedding.
"The thing that surprised me most is they had only been out 12 times before they got married," she explained.
"They had only been together 12 times and at one point Prince Philip pressured his son and said, 'you have to do the right thing'."
The documentary aired last year to mark the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana's death in August 1997.
The two-hour programme also featured one of Diana's friends, Lana Marks, who revealed Diana told her, "I really have only loved one man, and that's Charles" not long before her death.
Last month, we told you about the one comment that instigated the end of Prince Charles and Princess Diana's marriage.
In an interview in 1991, Diana revealed her relationship with Prince Charles "went down the drain" following Harry's birth.
According to royal biographer Andrew Morton, Diana recalled the first thing her husband said to her when Harry was born was: "Oh God, it's a boy".
While Diana already knew the gender of the baby, the royal mum is said to have deliberately kept it a secret from her husband because she believed he'd "wanted a girl".
"I knew Harry was going to be a boy because I saw on the scan. Charles always wanted a girl," Diana revealed.
"He wanted two children and he wanted a girl. I knew Harry was a boy and I didn't tell him.'
Charles insisted he was "joking".
